Rhino is the funniest cartoon character ever!
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, or who the heck is Rhino and what is so awesome about a rhinoceros please read further! But be warned that the word “awesome” will not be used sparingly!
First of all Rhino is not a rhino. He’s a hamster. Yes, you heard me. A rodent that lives in a plastic ball.
He is a character in Disney’s animated picture, “Bolt” which I saw this weekend and which is… you guessed it, AWESOME. Bolt is a canine star in his own TV series about a superdog fighting to rescue his owner, Penny from the evil Dr Calico. The catch is that Bolt has no idea he’s acting, he thinks he actually IS a superdog. So when he finds himself outside the set, in the real world, the real adventure begins. He actually makes friends with a very ironic and sarcastic cat, and with Rhino, the hamster.
Rhino is a TV addict, and his favorite program is “Bolt”, go figure. What’s more, he fully believes that Bolt is a superdog and a truly awesome one. Hence the pep talk aimed at lifting Bolt discouraged spirits: “They [the other animals] need a hero to tell them that sometimes the impossible can become possible! IF YOU-RE AWE-SOME!!!”. The way he says “if you’re awesome”, is out-of-this-world funny. But maybe what’s even funnier is his super-excited chuckle after Bolt agrees to go save the cat and how he says “I’ll go get my ball!”. Really, I can’t do this scene justice, you have too see it to appreciate the humor.
Maybe one of the best Rhino moments is the time when he shouts through a ventilation shaft “Rhino is awesome! He’s soooo awesome! He’s beyond awesome! He’s bey-awesome!”.
Other Rhino moments include:
Bolt: There’s a guard.
Rhino: I’ll snap his neck!
Bolt: The road will be rough.
Rhino: I have a ball.
Bolt: There’s no turning back.
Rhino: Guess I’ll have to roll with the punches.
Bolt: “Easy” won’t be part of the equation.
Rhino: Promise?
Bolt: Gotta warn ya’. Going into the belly of the beast, danger at every turn…
Rhino: I eat danger for breakfast!
