7 reasons I’m a big geek

Thanks to The Naked Redhead, I stumbled across The Secret Society of List Addicts. It’s such a cool blog, it was love at 1st read.
One of the lists was about things that make some of us big geeks.
Here are 7 items from my kilometric list.

1. I am a geneticist. I work in a lab [...]

Biochemistry of vampires

Written by dr. William Bates, a brilliant professor and researcher in computational genomics and biochemistry.
I thought this piece was particularly entertaining.

The biochemistry of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
{Warning. This may not appeal to anyone who is not a Buffy-watching chemist.}
We are moderate fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I say ‘moderate’ [...]

10:05

At 10:05 pm I began writing this post.
I am tired, I want to watch Nurse Jackie and am without inspiration for a regular post.
Therefore I am only going to tell you exactly what pops into my head. Real time.

Today I saw G Force with D; we liked it but didn’t love it; we had loads [...]

Who let the dogs out?

I bought this nice picture frame last winter. I really liked the paisley fabric covering it and thought it was perfect for my night table. Oh, and it was 80% off so that triggered the “Gotta have it!” neuronal path so I bought it.

It came with this picture of a dog which, I found, [...]

Chic Sundays': vintage globe

I got this at a local Antiques shop a while ago. I am thinking of starting a little collection of vintage globes because they are just adorable. This one dates back to 1963, at least that’s what it says in a little engraving it has on its upper side. Go figure!

Link love Fridays: misc

As in miscellaneous. Because today I couldn’t find a single topic for these links.

First, some nice ads (or comics? not sure) from a while ago. Found via I waste too much time at work.

I would really, really like this sign on my wall.

Must-see movies

I feel a bit overwhelmed with movies that seem really, really good.

Like An Education, a movie about “a young girl beyond her years who meets a man beyond his boundaries”.

Or 500 Days of Summer with the lovely Zooey Deschanel and the absolutely adorable Joseph Gordon-Levitt. (Does anyone else think he looks like Heath Ledger?)

Or Public [...]

The great firewall of China

Found this out from D. ‘Cause he likes to share knowledge and all.

Apparently it would suck to be a porn addict in China. So if you’re planning to see The Great Wall, make sure you are aware that it comes with an equally great firewall. Here’s what I know:
All computers that will be sold in [...]

Chic Sundays: sweet and sassy hair adornments

I’m thinking of buying a headband and some flower hair pins. And what better place to shop for such things than Etsy?
Here are some that I love:
From Mandizzle

From Wee Gardens

From Vie Moderne

From Royal Princess

From My Bella Bows

Aren’t they all amazing? And they’re also super cheap, which means I [...]
