A few weeks ago, the weekend after I took this picture,
we went to Ottawa to meet a friend. Luckily the snow stopped but was replaced by rain and fog. Perfect time to go to a drive-through park! And I do mean this in a non-ironic way, we couldn’t have picked a better time.
The park looked so spooky and knowing that not far away there were wolves and bears was increasing the boooooo factor! At least for me.
The first animals we saw were the wapiti. We, all city folks, were quite astonished by their white butts and the fact that they were not afraid to come close to the car, stick their noses through the slightly-open window and if the possibility arose, lick the instrument that was taking their picture! Who knows? Maybe it’s made of food.
The male deer were quite majestic with their huge antlers, some just standing in the middle of the road almost saying “This is my home! I will move whenever I want! Ok?”.
We saw some buffalos, including a mother buffalo and her baby, during junior’s dinner time. (You don’t see the baby? Count the legs you see in the photo!)
From afar and from the other side of the pen, these Arctic wolves don’t seem so fierce!

Changing species and food chain level, look at these cuties!
And funny story behind this: the male in the background, the prince of this harem, was probably in the mood for something-something because he kept making these (we assumed mating calls) noises that sounded just like burping. “Hey honeys! One of you better come here! And bring some more beer!”
