Judging songs by their covers

I’ve been compiling this little list of good covers after famous songs. I still think that the best cover ever is Milow’s Ayo Technology which is one gazillion times better than the 50 Cent version.

And here are other covers that I really enjoyed and that you might want to check out.

1. Milow – Ayo Technology (50 Cent)

2. Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)

I am a big Cohen fan, but Buckley’s soft voice+guitar combo makes this song is just awesome.

3. Live – Walk the line (Johnny Cash)

This is awesome in so many ways!

4. The Baseballs – Hey there Delilah (Plain White Ts)

5. The Baseballs – Umbrella (Rihanna)

For some 50s charm…

6. Switchfoot – Crazy in love (Beyonce)

7. Cake – I will survive (Gloria Gaynor)

8. Bowling for Soup – Baby one more time (Britney Spears)

Obviously better than the original.

9. Limp Bizkit – Faith (George Michael)

10. All Time Low – Umbrella (Rihanna)

A rock version. Not bad.

11. Alien Ant Farm – Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson)

Not better, but interesting and worth listening to.

12. The Lemonheads – Mrs Robinson (Simon&Garfunkel)

Also, not necessarily better, but not bad either.

I’ve left Pomplamousse for the end, because they are INCREDIBLE!

Here are the links to some of their covers:

Telephone (Lady Gaga)

Single Ladies (Beyonce) – I like this one the best

La Vie en Rose (Edith Piaf)

  • I found another cover of Umbrella by a Finnish band called Lillasyter and I think it’s awesome.
    Better than the original even!
