The International Rose Test Garden, Portland OR

Portland International Rose Test Garden

We visited the gardens in Portland on a rainy summer day. This meant we were the only people there, and I think this added to the charm of the place. I was absolutely smitten with the large selection of roses, the different colors and aromas… I wouldn’t have guessed it, but roses can have such different scents depending on the variety. I’ll leave you with some photos – I am happy with how they turned out, and especially with how the colorful blooms look against the dark background.

Against a dim sky all flowers look like fireworks…

  • We have a rose garden in Cape Town called the Chart Farm. You can pick your own roses and the cost is reduced. Think it’s like R4 or R5 a rose? The views are stunning – vineyards and Table Mountain. Unfortunately the food is simply mediocre. Great photos.

  • Lovely photos. My favourite is the flowers with the stairs.
